Maria Athanassiadou is an Attorney at Law and a founding partner of Dr. Helen G. Papaconstantinou and Partners, Law Firm (HP&P-2015). With nearly three decades of expertise across all realms of intellectual property, she spearheads the Patents and Industrial Designs Department of the firm. Maria's practice revolves around IP litigation, prosecution, and counseling, with a specialized focus on patents, utility models, supplementary protection certificates, industrial designs, and trademarks. She excels in drafting and reviewing IP contracts and providing pertinent consultancy services.
Maria's clientele comprises major international entities and local clients, particularly in the pharmaceutical sector. She adeptly assists them in devising and executing strategies tailored to their business objectives and needs.
Holding a law degree from the University of Athens, Greece, and a master's in Spanish studies from the University of Barcelona, Spain, Maria boasts a comprehensive educational background. Since 1996, she has been a member of the Athens Bar Association and is licensed to practice before the Supreme Court and the Council of State.
Maria actively contributes to various professional organizations, serving as an alternate delegate of the International Federation of Intellectual Property Attorneys (FICPI) Greek National Group. She is also a valued member of the Pharmaceutical Trademarks Group (PTMG) and the International Trademark Association (INTA).

Maria is a regular contributor to several significant trademark, patent and industrial designs publications, including Lexology, IAM, World Trademark Review, Wolters Kluwer Manual IP, Katzarov’s Manual on Industrial Property and several INTA resources as well as author of the Greek chapter of “European SPCs Unraveled (2nd edition, Wolters Kluwer).
She is fluent in English, Spanish and Greek (native language) and has a good knowledge of German and Italian.
